Last XC race ever

Mon 10/28: Upper Arroyo, 6.8mi. Felt really good. Slalom! Monday runs are always the most fun ;P.

Tue 10/29: 9x400 at Central Park. ~7.8mi. 77, 76, 74, 74, 73, 74, 74, 76, 75. Felt pretty good during the workout, but calf uncomfortable in the evening.

Wed 10/30: Huntington up St Albans, really slow. 5.3mi.

Thu 10/31: 54321! Basically ran behind Scott and then sprinted the last minute. 5.5mi.

Fri 11/1: Prerace! Getting ready for the big day tomorrow. 3.4mi.

Sat 11/2: SCIAC Championships! Went out in 6:15 and it was over from there. Don't even wanna put my time down. 9mi total.

Total: 37.8mi.

Let's have some fun

This is kind of mind-blowing for me right now, but I think it's starting to hit me that this is my last cross country season. Ever. My last cross country race with a school team will most likely be next Saturday. More comments to come.

Mon 10/21: Casting pond, 8.4mi. R Achilles tendon was hurting during like the first half of the run, but thankfully it went away. Super fun run! We kept chasing ppl and messing with each other and other fun stuff. Best run I've had in a while. Runs like this make me really happy. :).

Tue 10/22: 8x800 splitting the mile loops at Lacy, felt really crappy, like 2:55s. Started with Will but dropped off big time and ran mostly with Rishabh. ~8.5mi.

Wed 10/23: Tu Madre, 5.6mi. Felt really bad again, partly bc I had lunch at 3pm and hadn't finished digesting yet. Ran in the back with Nick, prolly around 8min pace.
Apparently my L calf is really tight / slightly injured, so I can't run any hills for a while.

Thu 10/24: Ran 2/1 x 10 around the track b/c calf, fast parts around 5:45 pace and slow around 8:30. 7.5mi total.

Fri 10/25: San Gabriel, 4.3mi, while the rest of the team did Lacy long way. Went really slow for the calf.

Sat 10/26: 6 Rose Bowl loops in 24:58, was pretty slow. Apparently was basically the same pace as last time we ran the loops. Calf felt better, first time back with the team since Wed. ~8.3mi.

Total: 42.6mi.

Two strikes remaining

Mon 10/14: Lower Arroyo at ~7:40 pace (exactly 1 hr!). Went really easy b/c legs tired from general exertion over the weekend. Strides were awesome though. Knees kind of hurting through the evening, but hopefully that'll feel better by tomorrow. 7.8mi.

Tue 10/15: 12x400 at Central Park. 80, 78, 78, 78, 77, 77, 77, 76, 75, 78, 75, 74. Ran pretty much all of it with Elliot. Really exhausted... 9.5mi.

Wed 10/16: Garfield long way, 5.7mi. Legs really really sore. Gluts hurt for some reason. Don't feel ready for race on Friday, so hopefully will feel better soon.

Thu 10/17: Prerace, 3.4mi. Legs still pretty sore but getting better. 6 strides were pretty fast. Did like 2 hrs of stretching and rolling out.

Fri 10/18: Multi-Duals at La Mirada Park! Plan was go out at 5:50 and hold at least 6 min miles, but died the last mile. Ended up getting passed by David in the last mile and finishing in 30:21. 9mi total. Disappointing, but ohh well.

Sat 10/19: PM: DDR, but went really easy. Had a wine and food pairing before which was pretty cool.

Before you judge my lazy weekend which resulted in my extremely low mileage for the week, just know that it was important for my mental (and possibly physical) well-being.

Also, I think I'm starting to feel the effects of this sleep deprivation combined with (relatively) high mileage. I've been just exhausted for the last week or so straight.

Total: 35.4mi + bit of DDR.
37mi equivalent.

6 weeks is a long time

Mon 10/7: Full Arroyo! Finally getting in a decent long run, 9.7mi. Went probably ~7:45 pace with Will and Stan. Super fun, just like old times ;P. Most of the team did lower, but he had the fast/healthy guys do full and I asked to do that too. Maybe I can count in that catagory...? haha I wish. Outside of right shin/calf was hurting quite a bit after the run, so hopefully that goes away by tomorrow.

Tue 10/8: 8x800 at Garfield. 2:55, 2:47, 2:47, 2:48, 2:48, 2:46, 2:48, 2:49. Had no idea what pace to go at first (everybody started wayy too slow). Was overambitious after that and then tried to hold the pace for the rest of the workout... kind of worked I guess. Felt really bad intervals 3-8 after like 50m (quads extremely sore). At least outside of R shin/calf wasn't feeling bad. Elliot stopped after 3, Will was way back the first few, with me the next few, and then ran faster the last 2. Run with us! hahaha. Joel was really fast, almost with Jared (~2:43s). David and Connor were in the second group (5:30 each), looked pretty good (especially Connor). ~9mi total. Was super sore after but stretched during break in orchestra and I think that helped ;P.
Just looked back: apparently ran 2:47, 2:46, 2:49, 2:49, 2:48, 2:48, 2:51, 2:50 last year... which averages out to the same time (2:48.5). qq why I am still so slow.

Wed 10/9: Crazy tree! Sprained my ankle last time I ran this, but made it through ok this time. ;P ~7:30 pace, 6mi.

Thu 10/10: 4 on, 1 off x 6 at Lacy. Felt really good, ran with Will pretty much the whole time. Had to alter the course a bit because there was a hs race going on. Also didn't have a watch so totally ran through the 4th rest. ~8mi total.

Fri 10/11: Huntington, 6mi. Felt a little sluggish at first but got better. 7:30 pace.

Sat 10/12: AM: 4.23mi tempo at Alhambra Park in 26:51, 8 loops. First half of each felt nice b/c it was slightly downhill, and then the uphill portion sucked. Managed to hold decently well though. ~25sec behind Elliot, quite satisfied. Scott was surprisingly close to me today, so I think he had a good workout. Will fell back =/ and Rishabh wasn't doing too well. Also, David noooooo hurt his calf (getting out of bed this morning?). Hopefully he gets better soon. And Ani says he's quitting if he still isn't able to run by Friday =/. Be less broken team! ~9mi total.
PM: DDR! SSSSSSOOOOOO FUN! yay ;P Played quite a bit, only like 2 12's though (and lots of 11's, like usual)

Three strikes remaining

Mon 9/30: First day of classes! Ran Casting pond with extra around track because wanted extra mileage and can't really do strides anyway. ~9mi. Unfortunately, Juan was feeling really bad =/.

Tue 10/1: 5x1600 at Lacy. 5:53, 50, 57, 50, 49. Ran similar to Will, except he did the first few slower and did the last few faster. Joel and Elliot were ahead, but not by a huge amount... Was definitely a hard workout but felt decent I think. Could've been a lot worse? ~9mi total.
PM: DDR! Played a (more) decent amount, slowing working my way up to a whole night (after the season ends ofc).

Wed 10/2: Huntingson, 6.6mi. Pretty slow, 7:50 pace? Ran with Will. Strides in spikes!

Thu 10/3: 54321! Felt a little tired, but was ok overall. Ran near Rishabh and Jared, got dropped by Elliot and Joel. ~6mi total. Didn't ice b/c played some DDR at club fair after.

Fri 10/4: Prerace! 3.7mi b/c did extra in spikes. Strides felt good.

Sat 10/5: Pomona-Pitzer Invitational! Ran 29:53, not great but w/e. Joel, Jared, and Iggy had good races. Aditya and Pien went below 27, which is awesome, and Jared and Iggy made it under 28! Ian beat my PR by a second! (finally... haha) ~9mi total.

Total: 43.3mi + DDR.
46mi equivalent.
