So this is a long one... since it's just prep for one race and I might as well not split it in half.
Thu 3/5: AM: First run in (what felt like) forever! Did Levi's, ~
3mi. Running is so fun :). I was kind of scared that my pf arch pain would come back during the run, but it mostly held up ok.
Fri 3/6: Ran to the courts at Fair Oaks park, played bball with the team for around an hour, then ran back. ~
2.5mi. Played some DDR after that but my legs were really tired from running, bball, and the squats that I did in the gym. After that, stayed up until 10am playing Dead of Winter with Wesley xD. Sleep scheduled so screwed up now... Also, late night (aka 10am) Carl's :D.
Sat 3/7: Off. Went to Jang Su Jang with James Chang and ate soo much.
Sun 3/8: Levi's, ~
3mi.
Mon 3/9: PM: Levi's again, ~
3mi. Was gonna run at work but brought a second tshirt instead of shorts... whoops.
Tue 3/10: DDR.
Wed 3/11: PM: Had a fun
exploratory run around work, ~
6.5mi (little extra for exploring the nooks and crannies...). Ran down Maude, to Middlefield station, through Google, on Hetch Hetchy Trail, to Steven's Creek Trail, and then back with a small loop by Samsung. Barely made it back in time for dinner, right at 7. I think I've realized that A lot of my arch pain is mental, as in when I think about it more, I might change the way I run, which actually makes it worse. I should be fine, really hoping it won't come back... I just won't run super super hard for 2 months or so (and do lots of lower leg strengthening), and it should get stronger.
Thu 3/12: Off.
Fri 3/13: AM: Levi's, ~
3mi.
Sat 3/14: Blacklight run! Fun runs are so nice. LinkedIn paid part of our registration fees and we had a bus and a team and everything :). The whole time I'm worried about warming up and stuff and everybody's like man you're too competitive, take it easy etc. So my warm up was dancing in the pre-party and jumping like crazy trying to catch the free powder packs and glow sticks (I didn't get any... was really close though, landed at the people right in front of us!). Turns out that LinkedIn bought a pack of powder for each of us though so we ended up getting quite colorful.
Now for the actual run: One of my friends from Crossfit was there, so I ran with him the first mile or so. We started in the back of the 2nd flight (the first was VIPs), so it was a lot of squeezing between and going around walkers/joggers, probably going normal run pace or a bit faster. After that, I took off (~tempo pace I guess?) and started catching people. It was pretty dark the whole time; I was expecting more lights and music/powder stations (it seemed like they only had one every half mile or so). It was probably fine in the crowd since a lot of people wore lights, but none of the actual runners were decked out in swag. Anyway I kept passing people and eventually I saw the pickup truck following the leader and passed it too at the last powder station (well I didn't know it was the last one), but I kept running normally and before I knew it I passed the leader then immediately saw some dark signs that said "Finish". There were no lights there, so I was confused and asked out loud "Was that the finish? Wait we're done?" since there were people around, and they were like yup, and it was near the stage so I was like huh, that's a pretty unassuming finish line. So I guess I won, right before the finish line, without even realizing it xD. But yeah I got my free powder pack (brought it back home as a souvenir... or a surprise explosion muahaha) and then hung around with my friend afterwards who kept trying to make a big deal out of the fact that I finished first. He kept saying that I should get some prize, even though it's clearly publicized as a fun run that has no timing or prizes or anything. But it was still fun, made me feel fast xD. I guess my 1 week of training paid off haha. Also the terrain was really nice, flat and packed dirt that reminded me of riverside. ~
3.5mi total.
Also made a pie because it was pie day. Ofc.
